Updated Continuing Education Requirements

Plumbing licensees in Washington state must obtain continuing education to renew their license and stay up-to-date with new codes and systems in the industry.
Journey-level and residential specialty plumbers: Individuals that renew between July 1, 2020 and June 30, 2021, are required to complete 16-hours of continuing education consisting of: a) A minimum of 8-hours of Uniform Plumbing (CODE), plus, b) A minimum of 4-hours of Industry-related electrical (IRE), and c) the remaining 4-hours can be in any Code, IRE, or Industry-Related Plumbing (IEP) area.
Updated requirements effective July 1, 2021 (3-year renewal period): All journey-level and residential specialty renewals will require 24-hours of continuing education consisting of: a) A minimum of 12-hours of Uniform Plumbing Code Code), plus b) A minimum of 4-hours of Industry-Related Electrical (IRE), and c) The remaining 8-hours can be in any Code, IRE, or Industry-Related Plumbing area.
